What is Wabi-Sabi
What is wabi-sabi? No, it’s not the little green lump that comes with your Califorina Roll. Julie Pointer Adams, author of Wabi-Sabi Welcome, defines wabi-sabi as the Japanese art of celebrating the perfectly imperfect. When broken apart, wabi means simplicity, modesty, and being content with less, while sabi is effect of time passing and the progression of beauty that comes with age. Together, they are believed to create a sense of harmony and peace of mind in the home.
Wabi-sabi is predicted to make a splash in the 2018 country décor scene because of its use of simple materials that are subject to natural aging such as wood, leather, and iron. Subtle additions to the home including hand-crafted wood utensils or charcuterie serving boards atop counters and tables or a wrought iron wine rack in your kitchen can achieve a country style while also blending beauty and utility.
When it comes to your styling your home, it’s easy to see why wabi-sabi is predicted to be a top country décor trend in 2018.
